TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Hi Martin,

I know that this question has been answered several times before, but when I search for it, I get 'no results'. So here we go again, I need to convert an S7 layout to P4/S4. I have converted one template, but I can't manage to do the rest, except individually, but I know there's an easier way to do it.

Many thanks

Phil.

Hi Phil,

gauge > other gauges (full list) ... , then:

If you haven't set a group, you will get an option to select all of the templates.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Guys,
Great info, I just spent hours converting old EM track work to EMSF. teach me not to ask first. Now for my silly question, how do you set the the gauge to full size or a scale of 1 to 1 or is that not possible. the reason for the question is not quite as crazy as it sounds.
if you can export at full size in DXF format there is no reason a C*D package can't use the track work as a very accurate scaling factor for buildings etc. in theory you can work in a scale of 1.1 for everything and then just scale back down once your happy.
cheers
Phil

Thanks Martin
Much appreciated, can you scale the measurements on the trackpad to also represent full size? Or more accurately set the grid to meaningful full size values.
cheers
Phil

@Phil G

Hi Phil,

Sure. You can set proto-feet units for the grid for any model scale, not only 1:1

p.s. I can't do all your menu exploring for you, it just takes too much time making the screenshots. I need some breakfast!

cheers,
