TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Buried fossil templates under newer templates

I lot of Templot operations, particularly those involving the Tools menu, seem to generate new, good templates and leave behind in the background the templates from which the new ones were made. In particular the link commands do this. It can be quite hard to select and remove the old templates, particularly when they are almost the same as the new templates; there's nothing sticking out to click on to select them.

Probably I'm doing something wrong (again). Is there a cleverer way to clean these up? I've tried the template list in the box dialog, but it's not very easy to find the fossils in that list.

hi guy,

hold down the SHIFT key or put the CAPS LOCK on. As you move the mouse over the name labels, the relevant template will highlight. Until you find the one you want to delete. Then click on the name label to get its menu.

i've written this so many times over the years i think i could type it in my sleep. :)
