1. Adjusting check rail

I know how to do this, but i'm struggling with a solution to extend it to the curved track below. Is there a way to merge 2 templates to become 1?

@Cal

Hi Cal,

Templot doesn't have a function to put a check rail on plain track templates. There are 2 ways round this:

1. if you will be making plug track, you maybe don't actually need the check rail itself showing. You can just heave the chairs, changing them from S1 to CC check rail chairs. Here's a video clip showing how to do that:

https://flashbackconnect.com/Default.aspx?id=GSQ-LIjmIPjWFPaU1l4W4A2

The result is:

2. For longer lengths of plain track, use a turnout template instead. Add some approach track (F3), and extend the check rail all the way back into it. Then shorten the template (F4) to remove the turnout part and leave only the approach track.

I will edit this reply with more details of this shortly.

3. p.s. this is also the way to make CC chairs in bulk, using the multi function.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin, I have tried the extending the check rail from a turnout but have hit a problem. I set out a b7 rh turnout on a straight geometry. Then after saving then experimental 3D chairing I extend the check rails. The upper as viewed on screen is fine and the chairs change on all sections. However the lower only changes the chairs up to the blue rail joint position. I have tried it also extending the other direction and the same occurs.

Hi Keith,

At present Templot can put check rail chairs only on rails 1 and 4. Approach track is rails 1 and 3, so no check chairs on rail 3. Swap the template hand if you want them on the opposite side.

I intend to fix this, but it's a major task. Remember that you are working with an experimental project -- I can only do so much at once.

If you want check rails on both sides, use two partial templates -- omit all the unwanted rails, swap the hand, and hide all the timber outlines on the second template:

Most things are doable, but at this stage it's not always simple.

cheers,

Martin.

Thanks Martin I used the first option you gave above and heaved the chairs as I only need 5 sleepers. All done and saved
