Hello

A few small things still need to be improved, but otherwise it can be seen I think....

Hello to all.

I have missed a lot since my last visit here. Simply insane!

For filing the tracks I also use the Fast Track parts. They are definitely worth the money. They are also available for double slips. My shown crossing I have created with these parts.

In the meantime I have painted the switches and they look great. Pictures attached.

That I have a laser here, I have also thought about small helpers. Herrausgekommen is a gauge for the track spacing with narrow gauge.

But see for yourself.

I must necessarily more often look in here again. I have missed so many new great things!

Many greetings
Gregor

Hello to all,

since a long time I found some time again to work with templot. Simply amazing what has happened again. I am now easily overwhelmed! Laser, CNC, G-Code Settings....

I think I need help!

I already have a laser cutter. I just ordered a CNC milling machine, the only thing missing is a 3D printer.

I have saved my turnouts in DXF and edited the data with AutoCad for the laser. This I wanted to do again, get an error message when trying to save.
What is the reason for this?

Thanks and greetings Gregor

Hi Gregor,

If you are in Germany you may need to edit these to use a comma as the decimal mark 1,0 or just leave 1:

scale_by_error.png

I will fix that in the next program update.

p.s. is your screenshot Windows 11 ?

cheers,

Martin.

Hello Martin,

both have worked! Thanks

Yes, the screenshot is Windows 11.
It's quite difficult to get back into it after such a long break.
I will first read the post "Experimental Plug Track", this is incredible....

Greetings Gregor

Hello Martin,

I have drawn something again. This time I have created a turnout according to my own specifications. When transferring to DXF format, I noticed that the foot of the tongues is not displayed correctly. see picture.
Must adjust anything in the settings?
As a test I tried it with a FB switch, there is the same problem.

Thanks and greetings

Hello Gregor,

I'm afraid that is the limit of what Templot is capable of. The Templot templates are exactly that -- geometrical construction templates for building models. They are not detailed descriptive engineering drawings, especially not in relation to the foot of FB rails, which is just a simplified diagrammatic representation. There are dozens of different prototype designs of FB switch machining, the assumption is that if you are building a model at that level of detail, you know what you are doing and what is wanted. Many modern FB switches use a different rail section for the switch blades, which can ride over the foot of the stock rail, but I don't know of any such model rail sections available, or the different sizes.

Templot is a one-man program (and free). I don't have the knowledge or resources to cover every possible prototype switch variation even within the UK, and certainly not for non-UK designs. But all the program code is available open-source, so if anyone feels moved to add further switch designs, or improve the rendering of the templates or exported files, I would be delighted. :)

Martin.

Hello

Thanks Martin.
It had actually always finktioniert, but is also not a leg break. The lines can be traced quickly. Just thought that it is a small error......

Hello to all.

I know you are already a little further, but I have not yet dared to 3D printing. After I had already bought a laser cutter a long time ago, has now found a CNC milling machine the way to me in the workshop. For the normal switches I have now milled an assembly aid. The pc boards are also milled, of course immediately with all separations. It was a tedious work, because I had no idea about CNC until now.....
Someday there will be a 3D printer!

Greetings Gregor

I must admit to having a slight interest as about 10 years ago I had occasion to build some German type turnouts in HO. Nickel Silver FB rail on Copperclad timbers. A not very good photo is attached of part of it.

Hello,

another small update to the turnouts. After I now also have a small CNC milling machine, and I did not like the separation points in the circuit boards, I have revised the boards and the template again.
This is what came out!

Now it can go on....

Greetings
Gregor
