TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

A problem with shapes and a picture scan

Hello All,
I have a room outline in which I've successfully added baseboard shapes around the room; I also have a scan of a picture (the Downingham Track Plan) that will also appear on the room outline.
However, I was hoping that the baseboard outlines could still be visible when the track plan is present; at the moment the only way the baseboard outlines are visible is when the "picture: downingham_scan.png" show on trackpad tick box is unticked on the Background Shapes menu box.
I've spent literally hours trying to find a solution - ticking & unticking boxes etc. etc. but without success.
Am I doing something wrong, or perhaps searching for something that isn't possible?

Many thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,

I don’t have Templot in front of me at the moment, but assuming you have the Shapes window open, there are arrows to the right of the list of shapes. Select the picture shape, then click the down arrow to move it to the bottom of the list.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,

Fixed :D - you're a Superstar!!
I've no idea why the Picture Scan needs to be at the top of the list for the baseboard shapes to appear, but doing so sorted it straight away - many thanks.

Kind Regards,
Brian
