  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Aligning a Group of Templates

Quick reply >
Hi All

I am sure this has been asked before but I cannot find the answer by searching.

Basically if I have a group of templates, is there a way to "snap" the entire group to a peg or notch on another template?

I seem to recall it was something like Group and Link templates? Cannot seem to find such an option in the current version of Templot

Thanks and all the best
Phil

Hi Phil,

You need to link the group to the notch.

See this video, starting at 00:37 seconds in (don't drag the slider, it breaks the interactive pauses, click on the timeline):

It's about aligning a slip as a group of templates, but works the same with any group.

More explanation in this ancient page:

I need to get it properly re-written into the Companion, someone else asked about it recently, I think it was Gordon.

cheers,

Martin.
