Outside Slip

Gday All!
I am working on my layout plan. I have a few outside slips that need doing. I am familiar with how to make the basic parts of it. The crossing is fine. I am using two switches opposing each other and extending one of them over. And that is fine too.
It is the tidy up that has got me stuck. I don't know what tools/features allow me to remove/adjust length of individual rails and add the extra K crossings (have I got that right?) in the middle of the diamonds, to eliminate all the conflicts. I am positive I could just do that by hand once I have prinuted it but learning the toold would be better!
If there is a video, or tutorial on this could somebody point me to it? I have found the one on here that gets me started but it doesnt go into the little details at the end of it.

Thanks for your help.
Ben

Hi Ben,

Welcome to Templot Club. :)

There is a video about creating a regular outside slip (i.e. on a regular diamond-crossing):

https://flashbackconnect.com/Movie.aspx?id=3o4-PiKKPVaAXZsePJOwSA2

The topic referring to it is:

https://85a.uk/templot/archive/topics/topic_3644.php

For removing the rail conflicts under the new V-crossings, see this old video:

https://flashbackconnect.com/Movie.aspx?id=WD6BqPFKL0h2J85x0pKtPQ2

Sorry that video is so old, it's high time I made a new one.

For an irregular outside slip, you can use the new find intersection function to find the V-crossing positions and angles:

cheers,

Martin.

Can the CTRL + F3, blanking length be adjusted to control the length of the rail from the other side?

Edit: I think I know where I am going wrong here, thanks for the help.

Hi Ben,

Not sure what you wanted there, but here's a diagram:

I simply forgot the fundamentals of Templot, that is all. That it is a generator and I must change the length at either end, store and background in each step. I think this is the main concept to get into my head. I have been taking that for granted when you are a beginner and just making plain track and simple points.

@Godders
Thanks for the link to the vid
