TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Hi Martin
Following on from my previous topic on converting trackplan to centre-line only, which I have been able to do with your advice I have another problem in relation to copying to the RMweb forum. After saving the plan as a screen shot I have not been able to upload it to RMweb. I also tried output>export file as>create image file. Then I attempt to upload to RMweb using the "Choose files" function. With either method I get the following message on RMweb There was a problem uploading the file. I don't know if it is a problem with RMweb but there doesn't seem to be a forum that covers this question on RMweb. So could you walk me through the process. I want to send the centre-line only diagram with some background shapes that I have put on it.
Regards
Graham

Hi Graham,

Don't use the export image function -- you may get some very large images. Use the make a trackpad screenshot function instead.

The software used by RMweb is notoriously flaky. I could say a lot more about it. :(

I just tried uploading a screenshot without any problem:

https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/i...-for-terminus/&do=findComment&comment=4625050

However, I have a Gold membership on there which apparently allows me higher limits on image uploading.

All I can suggest is that you try again. But make sure you are uploading the exact same PNG screenshot file which Templot created. Don't change it to JPG or do anything else with it on your computer.

If you have a wide-screen monitor, you could try with a smaller screenshot image by clicking this option and dragging the trackpad window smaller:

If still no joy, post your screenshot or exported image here, and I will upload it into your RMweb topic for you (if the gods are willing).

cheers,

Martin.
