Timbering looks not fully stored in background

Hello Martin,
Before starting to build my own turnout structure I am first learning how to do something complex in Templot. That said I looked to your insideHalfScissors video and tryed to build it by my own. I completed it nearly but have a small problem at the and of my reconstruction. In the picture below you can see that the equalized timbering in the left half diamond is not fully okay. It looks the rails are partly behind the timbers and it also looks partly locked up in a kind of control template. I can try to store&background it but it doesnot work. Maybe you can explaine what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance! I added also the .box file.

Thanks, Frank

Hi Frank,

It all looks good to me -- can you explain a bit more what you think is wrong?

If you drag the now unwanted control template out of the way (F7 mouse action), you will see that everything looks good (unless I'm missing something). You can remove the bolding of the timbers in the trackpad menu.

One task remaining is to shorten the number 5 plain track template where it is conflicting through the V-crossing on the right.

To tidy up the timber spacings you might want to do some timber shoving -- copy each template in turn into the control template, and then Shift+F10.

Just to add that you are using the H0 NEM track standard. In Templot that means the scale, gauge and flangeways are changed, but the default prototype dimensions remain unchanged as for UK bullhead track. If you are modelling non-UK flat-bottom track, you can get the rail-foot lines on the printed templates by changing them to real > rails > head and foot (they don't show on the screen). You might also want to change the timber sizes and spacings to match your prototype at real > timbering > timbering data... .

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin,
Many thanks for the quick reply. I was struggling with the control template. I tryed to get rid of it in any way (but I did not) and saw the rail profiles sometimes above and sometimes beneath the timbers crossing??? What I completely missed was that you can move it aside using F7 and can switch off the bolding, so that was the main issue!

You are right concerning the conflict in the right V-crossing. I missed that too after inserting the piece of plain track in the middle area. I have to repair that!

Because I am using Märklin track and want to extend it with some Peco or Tillig track with middle-rail combined with some Templot shaped turnout structures, I put the gauge and scale already to H0 NEM. ...but I do not have to forget to adjust some parameters to support this.

Untill now I didn't print the track but thanks for the tip to specify the head/foot lines and timbre sizes and spacings because of my usage of non-UK FB track. That is one of next actions I have to look at, together with the timbering.

For the way of working how to build this example I made a kind of point by point recipe which helped me a lot to build the example by my own with all aspects in it. Doing this step by step, it learns me to understand how to work with your unique Templot tool! Again thanks!

Best regards,
Frank
