Hello Everyone
Well, I'm back from a week of wall to wall tiny trains, and even I have to admit that I've made some really good progress in this time, and it seems to have been just what I needed to get me back in harness and raring to go again, after two and a bit years of no activity.
My thanks to Tony Gee who is a bit of a genius(track acing and problem locos) and the support of Tim Peacock who has been consistently encouraging to me(and giving hands on help) over my years of going to Missenden. And to my chums in the studio room where all the big dirty work (ie layout building) takes place. So thanks to them, Chris (loan of paints and other stuff) Charlie, Peter, John and Andy.
Here's a couple of pictures of baseboard six, the last of the station baseboards. You may not see a lot of difference, but whilst at Missenden I adjusted the servos , got them linked up to a Scalefour Society lever frame, which worked eventually. Then I sprayed all the track with Halfords grey primer. Having done this, the track which wasn't point work, I lifted(wasn't stuck down, just pinned) and relaid that (mostly relaying in a bed of PVA and ballast poured on to top), but did try two other methods as well.
And eventually had most of the track running well including the single slip with moving K Crossings!....very very sexy!!!
Also had the room laughing at my double slip where each pair of blades at each end moved in opposite directions (picture the blades moving, either away from each other, or towards each other, weird to behold. Sadly I've since corrected them so now move as a pair in the same direction, boring but correct.
Here you can see that one ballasting method wasn't a total success........
And here it is sorted out, ie no bald patches.
Next is probably sort out the double slip which is over gauge at one end, and then install the point rodding before sowing the surrounding ground cover.
It's really good to be back posting pictures of my progress and thank you for being so patient in the interregnum!
Kind regards
Andrew
